50 2010 Hero Honda Passion Pro launched - Details, photos, specs

2010 Hero Honda Passion Pro is on sale and on streets..

Read the Review of the Hero Honda Passion Pro APDV: Click here

Accoring to me, the Hero Honda Passion (Plus/Pro) occupies a unique position in the minds of the 2 wheeler buying consumer of India. For them, the Passion probably qualifies as the most stylish among the 100 cc motorcycles.

Therefore when Honda's new (110 cc) CB Twister arrived and threatened to take away the crown as the most stylish 100 (+) cc motorcycle, a refreshed Passion Pro from Hero Honda was naturally expected to defend its position.

So there we have it, the 2010 refreshed version of the Passion Pro. The details of the Passion Pro has been very recently updated on Hero Honda's site.

I have also managed to see a couple of them plying on our roads.

Please don't think that something is wrong with me when I say that the 2010 Passion Pro is actually a good looking bike. According to me, when viewed from the rear, the Hero Honda Passion Pro is kind of rotund (in a good way) and "well fed" wheares the CB Twister appears Edgy and lean.

I know that its just plastic clothing and some new stickers, but our 100 cc buying crowd can't seem to get enough of it. Moreover the 97.2 cc engine is a proven one and has the reputation of being extremely reliable. So there is actually nothing wrong with the package.

So what's new..??

Hero Honda is calling the engine "New age high performance APDV Engine"..!!

  • A sharply styled rear tail section with 2 lamps (A single one remains on when the lights are sitched on, both light up on application of brakes)

  • A digital display for odometer, tripmeter and fuel quantity reading (speedometer is still analouge)

  • New graphics, red color rear suspension springs and body colored rear grab rail

The Engine:

The tech specs suggest that the engine has remained virtually the same as the older Passion Pro variant. Oh, by the way Hero Honda is calling the engine "New age high performance APDV Engine"..!!

So far I haven't been able to unearth what this "APDV" means (couldn't find it on its website). Can anyone help me..??

Pricing: The pricing for the new 2010 Passion Pro hasn't been still updated on its site. But the Delhi On-Road price seems to be around Rs. 48,320 (as reported on xBhp.Com)

Also even though the website shows the availabilty of a disc brake as an option, I am not quite sure if it's available in the showroom. Could anyboy throw some light over here..??

So, 2010 Passion Pro Vs. the CB Twister? Let the buyer decide for himself.

the passion is becoming quite dated. more chages that a new tail lamp is required.

Hi Satadal,

I agree that the Passion is a very reliable machine and it one of the best motorcycle in the 100cc segment. But things are changing. Passion desperately needs an update. It was the best looking machine when it was launched, at that time only Splendors and Calibers were there. But now there are Twisters and Discovers. Hero Honda have to think again.

@Shaiju,

I'll agree with you. Hope the competition gets hot enough for our bike makers.. infact had it not been for competition, the Passion Pro might have continuted as it was

Enough of this 97 cc engine.

Its good move by HH. Most of the tier 2, Tier 3 & rural Indian preffers Splendors & Passion due to reliability & sales Network. CB Twister might be more aggressive to thire need. Hope cosmetic makeup will provide new lease of life to Passion and nothong more. The same HH expecting.

Sajal said...

hmmm... looks like HH is getting emotional about Bajaj eating up into it's market share!! This passion looks so over loaded under the hood!!

For me APDV would very well mean - Aapka wahi Poorana Do pahiya Vehicle ;)

I mean how much breaking power would a vehicle need when it's engine is producing less than 8 PS of peak power, for it to have front disk??

OR

How much statistical info you need to provide your rider about the different component of the bike on a 100cc machine, for the bike to have a digital console??

This purely goes to show that HH is solely driven by market lust and not technicality :(

Even though Passion is not doubt a very dependable machine... but the moves made by HH to rejuvinate the bike is simply sleezy I would say.

Few months back Honda launched Lady Gaga amongst two wheels with her martian paper outfit and name the bike CB Twister (wonder what it twists) and now this new Passion!! Amazing!!

I hate these ambiguous terms HH comes up with. APDV - now whats that supposed to mean? its still the same engine, so where has this new term cropped up? Earlier also, the 125cc splendour had this "quantum core" engine...if only someone could explain to me whats quantum core supposed to mean!!

TND said...

I have HATED HH for the TERMINOLOGY , when they introduced a BIKE
named 'HUNK' !!!!

Gautam said...

Some of our friends seriously dislikes the "Terminology" of HH. Ok! But u should agree with me for the fact that the most hated thing about HH is their ads. They are simply childish, unmatured, always misfocused & makes laugh!(See how a CBZ goes thr' a ramp, a crain, a boat and finally to an island!!!! Hell man, what are u selling? a city/highway bike or a speedboat?)
The difference is clearly seen with ads compared to Bajaj & TVS ads.
I URGE HH, Please change ur media agency.

nilu said...

oh yes Gautam, good thing you reminded me!! The HH ads are simply disgusting. I dont know what their ad agency is, but they sure are mindless to be mildly putting it. Remember the HH ad where Hrithik flies off a chopper and lands on the rooftop of a skyscraper? Bajaj and TVS ads are a class apart. HH ads can be best termed as crappy, mindless junk.

Passion Plus has been discontinued (this was told to me on my last visit to a Hero Honda dealership) .. try contacting your nearest Hero Honda dealership.

Go for Passion Pro

i was buy passion pro,, very good two wheeler in the 100cc bikes,,

I sorry to say this.

My friend brought this bike 6 months ago. And I tried the bike in our highways and villages.

It was ok..

He says it give 80km/litre. That was great.

The digital metre in this bike is ugly. And the design sucks.

And Brakes.............................

I am sorry. Its like train brake. I used both front and rear brakes to stop this bike.

Even you have mileage under your bike, but if you don't have brakes good in your bike,

Then you wont be there to ride the bike next time.

I am not lying. Please test drive Passion PRO.
